Getting the marketing right

When starting a new business it is very common for people with specific skills in the service they offer to kind of leave behind the marketing piece as it is something they have never done and potentially hope that their quality service alone will have customers beating down their door.  Well, that rarely happens.  You have to do marketing to get business.

As a starting point The 22 Immutable Laws Of Marketing is a fantastic book and I know it helped shape my attitude to marketing and the simple things I had to do to get the marketing right.   It is a small, short book that is really easy to read, understand and most importantly put you in place to figure out what to do next.

If you are going to do your own thing then marketing is essential.
